Executive Director Jen Duggan Warns Orders “Will Expose Americans to More Dangerous Air and Water Pollution and Fuel Climate Catastrophes”
WASHINGTON, D.C. – In response to President Trump’s flurry of executive orders on Inauguration Day, including the reversal of climate and environmental policies that protect Americans, the Environmental Integrity Project (EIP) issued the following statement.
“On Inauguration Day, President Trump issued a barrage of executive orders that will expose Americans to more dangerous air and water pollution and fuel climate catastrophes,” said Jen Duggan, Executive Director of EIP. “While these orders do nothing to address voter concerns about cost-of-living affordability, they will increase already astronomical profits for fossil fuel companies at the expense of everyday Americans. We deserve better from our President.”
The text of some of President Trump’s executive orders can be found at the links below link. Among other things, the orders reverse U.S. climate and environmental justice policies, pull out of the Paris international climate agreement, encourage offshore drilling, and declare an “energy emergency” that aims to fast-track approvals for polluting fossil fuel projects.
“In these challenging times, the Environmental Integrity Project is committed to continuing our fight for clean air and water, healthy communities, and a livable climate in court and in the court of public opinion,” Duggan said. “We will not be intimidated, and we will not surrender our communities and the planet to grow corporate profits.”
