Earthstage.pw is an evolving public resource — part digital park, part research library, part field station for people trying to understand the forces reshaping our world.

This first edition grows in the shadow of the water rising on the island of Palau. That shadow is not only local. It falls across coastlines, communities, archives, and futures everywhere. Earthstage exists because the climate crisis is no longer abstract, and because the histories that brought us here must remain visible, searchable, and shareable.

At its core is the Fracking Resource Guide (2010–2012), restored and reimagined as a living archive: thousands of links repaired, metadata rebuilt, older knowledge brought back into public reach, and new pathways opened for discovery.

That archival work continues. But Earthstage is also expanding into a more personal and experiential form: a living digital park where research, memory, walking, listening, and video practice meet.

The personal art videos now appearing on Earthstage are part of that expansion. They are not separate from the fracking archive. They ask how environmental history is felt in daily life — through weather, attention, sound, movement, grief, repair, and the slow act of looking.

The next phase of the project develops these works as continuous video loops for informal at-home multi-channel installations. Viewers will be able to play different Earthstage videos on adjacent screens — a desktop, a tablet, a phone, or a second monitor — allowing the works to drift together as a quiet domestic environment. They do not have to be watched only from beginning to end. They can run, repeat, overlap, and become part of the room.

This project feels necessary because memory is fragile, public knowledge disappears quickly, and the systems shaping ecological crisis are often made to feel distant, technical, or inevitable. Earthstage tries to do the opposite. It invites people in. It makes research more human. It treats information as a landscape that can be walked, listened to, and revisited.
